Chocolate Elderberry Syrup Recipe

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

stay healthy from coronavirus with elderberry syrup recipe

Staying healthier just got better! Now that the scare of Coronavirus is in full swing, people are taking every step possible to stay healthy. In an attempt to make a normal batch of homemade elderberry syrup, I quickly realized other amazing ingredients I had in my home that were full of their own health benefits...so I created a delicious and healthy new elderberry syrup recipe!

Aside from the organic elderberries I had in my pantry, I also had a bunch of raw fair trade cacao.

40 Times the Antioxidants of Blueberries. Raw Organic Cacao has over 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries. Highest Plant-Based Source of Iron. Full of Magnesium for a Healthy Heart & Brain. More Calcium Than Cow's Milk. A Natural Mood Elevator and Anti-Depressant....this superfood ingredient was going straight into the mix!

To even further the health benefits of this already amazing elderberry syrup, I also found dried organic hibiscus flower...also known as "Jamaica".

In one study, hibiscus extract increased the number of antioxidant enzymes and reduced the harmful effects of free radicals by up to 92%.

It contains high levels of vitamin A, C, B1, and E, as well as minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, niacin, folic acid, and phosphorus.

Making this elderberry syrup, a powerfully packed coronavirus (and all other illness) fighter.

Now, I didn't measure anything out, but if you are searching elderberry recipes, this probably isn't your first time making it.

Basically, make a normal batch of elderberry syrup, but while the berries are "soaking" add the cacao, and the flowers as well. Strain as normal and everything else as normal.

A rough ingredient list. (adjust as you need or if you are already a seasoned elderberry syrup maker).

2/3c. Dried Elderberries

3TB. Raw Cacao

1/4c. Dried Hibiscus Flowers (or sub for rose hips) Dash of Cinnamon

Dash of Allspice

Dash of Ginger

3.5c. Water

1c. Honey

Put in a large pan and cover with water. Don't add too much water, just till it barely covers the ingredients.

Simmer on low heat for 1 hour, stirring for the cacao, occasionally.

Let cool.

Strain all "juice" through a cheese cloth and into another large bowl.

Add honey. You can add more honey to "extend" the syrup and make a larger amount.

Stay Healthy!
